First I have a question before I talk about the art. My question is this What is up with calling Connor "Connor Kenway" when that is not his name? Yes he adopts the name Connor from Achilles Davenport, but her never once used the name Kenway. His real name isn't even Connor its Ratanhnke:ton. Ok sorry had to get that out of the way.
First hes looks like a white man. Not native at all. He is to thin. Even his father was broad.
Second he is holding the bow in the wrong hand. The way he is holding the arrow is wrong. Ok let me break it down for you. Hand holding bow- pointer finger used to stableize arrow giving so it don't swerve of to the left or righ or just drop.It also gives the arrow a mor upword drictional approch when being launched as to counter for the natrail drop any projectal has while traveling. Also the hand holding the arrow itself should be more closed and closer to the fletchings of the arrow(the back). But yeah anyways im not going to get into the nitty gritty of it.
I can't say any more because them two thing are what got to me. Over all it is a nice pice.
This is awesome but he is holding the arrow on the wrong side of the bow, and normally the pointer-finger stabilizes the front of the arrow while the back end of the arrow is sandwiched between two fingers. The problem with holding it like he is is that the arrow would swerve to the right or drop all together because nothing is holding it there. But otherwise it's amazing! <3
I'm going to have to agree with ~Ranggiana -- This image is nicely done... it's well composed as far as setting, textures, and technique, but for it being Connor it doesn't really look like him. More like someone else in his outfit, y'know? Aside from his skin color, his facial shape is very Caucasian rather than Native American. Perhaps the face is a bit too...long and pointed? Either way, it's just... off. Sorry if that didn't help much. If anything I'd say if it were rounded out a bit more and wider it may look more native.
I can say is you have a good sense of color and dynamics, but I can't help but feel there is a bit too much purples and blues here. Granted, it does make the piece meld nicely but it also makes it appear...flat. It's also neat to see him a bit beat up and tattered; as if he's seen a bit of a fight rather than him just standing there 'hero posing' with a bow and arrow. The only thing that bothers me about the bow and arrow is if it's in motion there should be motion added to show that. Right now it looks like it's levitating rather than moving forward. Not to mention it's lacking the feathers/vanes which are and essential part of most arrows. Still, this piece IS good... if I'd gotten this quality with a commission I'd be damn happy! It's just a few things are off.
Sorry for the critique... I just saw this image and it stuck out to me (in a good way mind you) and so I thought I'd give a comment No offense meant. I do realize this is a commission, so my critique can be taken with a grain of salt. Keep up the good work
Unfortunately there are some things seems off in this work. First of all, his facial structure doesn't bear any similarities with AC3 protagonist, so neither does his skin. Connor Kenway is a red skinned native american even facial wise. While in here, you made him look like your other white characters.
Then the way he's holding the bow and arrow. Is he holding the arrow or letting it go? The current pose is more like holding the bow string and arrow, but the fingers isn't holding on to it. It's better to keep the fingers tightened on the string and arrow with this one.
And lastly, why only a section of his belly exposed? If it was ripped, should have more torn around or at least still have bits of shirt left. I don't believe he would go out without shirt in the middle of the snow.
