In a stunning myriad of reds, blacks, and every hue in between, =moni158 captures all viewers' attention almost immediately!! Oh, and just to set the record straight, this is the best deep sea mermaid that I've ever come across.
The faint hint of a webbing between the fingers of this dark underwater beauty of the deep sea is just enough to get viewers thinking about what that experience would be like.
Her pale red eyes seem to glow with something that most people would never experience, and honestly speaking? That angler fish in the back has just won the award for #1 creepiest fish grin that I've ever seen.
Great work, =moni158. Your many mermaid pictures are a wonderful sight to see here on dA!!
First off, I'm just gonna say that I'm a new member here, and this is my first critique! I'm going to try to be as objective as possible because I absolutely LOVE your artwork. *clears throat* Okay, critique time. This piece really is wonderful, and powerful. The color impact deviates from the norm of greens, blues, purples, etc, and everything from the stance to the expression gives the impression of stoic power, darkness, and evil. This picture invokes a story, and that's the first thing I look for in great artwork. This makes me feel. I had to mark you down a bit for originality because it is, in the end, a mermaid but i think you put a very unique spin on it. I personally love your technique, but there are a couple of things I'd like to comment on. The tail becomes a bit blurry and ambiguous, and though I like the affect it has on creating a clearer focal point, it could've been less ambiguous and more "in the background". I can't particularly pinpoint it, but something about the neck/shoulder combination is bothering me. The only other thing that I have in mind is the unclear light source, when the lure fish in the background is providing a bit of light--but that's not exactly a big concern, light sources don't always have to be explained, of course! Overall, this piece really is amazing. I had a difficult time finding faults, honestly. Keep up the fantastic work!
