Humans don't .... by moni158 Humans don't .... by moni158
"OMG I hate people!"
"Animals are so much better!"
" I wish i was born a wolf/horse ...etc"

I can understand admiring an animal but wanting to be one is just beyond me, or thinking they are superior/better than humans....

I don't think these people appreciate the amazing odds they faced to become a human being, out of the thousands of ova and millions of sperm, you were born, out of every species on the planet.... you turned out a human, a creature capable of higher thought and reason and the ability to process the world around you unlike any other animal to have evolved.

*edit, lots of people are misinterpreting this stamp, its about appreciation not who is better. Capice?*

When people say humans suck, I feel they are stereotyping all humans to be the same as the ones they dislike. When you say humans suck, you're referring to all of them...and yourself. If you weren't, you'd be saying 'the bad humans suck'.

In my opinion, when I refer to humanity I refer to a mixed group of people doing crazy, stupid ridiculous crap( cough* WBC cough*) but in all honestly from looking at this stamp, I'm starting to reconsider....

Thanks for making this...it's very interesting...

"higher thought and reason and the ability to process the world around you unlike any other animal to have evolved."

There are some other animals that have shown these abilities.

Personally I don't hate humans. And in the end we are just another of this planets many animal species. Hatred for anything, especially something living (which includes people) in my eyes is a big step down the road to insanity.

That being said I am not a fan of what our society has become. But that has to do with the way we built our society up in the first place and not the human race itself. A mistake that's now very hard to untangle.

It depends on the humans and animals for me. I think humans are really smart, but sometimes we take advantage of that ability. I think we can do a lot of good things, but also a lot of bad things. However i'm not saying animals are any better. They can be just as bad as humans...but in the end it's just a matter of comparison, but also what we become.

I agree with you though

Sorry, but I disagree with you. We can't overcome our collective behaviors. Only a rare few are decent humans who realize this. We're arrogant and think we're greater than the universe itself. We have no right to call ourselves the best with the way we've been trashing everything we get our hands on. We abuse the planet and its resources. Yeah, we're not living like a Paleolithic tribe, but our fancy tools aren't greater than nature and the universe's cycles. The cycles that we and our inventions are apart of. Science and religion never even existed before we created them. They have no place in the universe or in nature. It's only something that we use to make life a little better and we can relate to. And even those aren't free from human error and misguidance. We've used both science and religion as weapons, but continue to act as if both haven't played a part in it all. Pointing fingers and playing the blame game.

I can see helping the blind/deaf/mute, amputees, etc. Mind transferring to a robot or virtual reality? You think spam is bad now, wait until your mind becomes a machine. Corporations and the government will have a field day with such breaches into your minds, bodies and personal lives. And I bet there will be someone controlling your internal functions. Someone could very well hack your body or virtual space.

We see mind controlling Smartphones and Google Glass as 'progress', but it's making real life interaction very hard, if not, impossible. Singularity and other crap like that simply means it's going to be easier for someone else to control your own body. Let some EMP wave hit and you're dead. Oh, and it won't lead to immortality either. Technology also dies. Idiots.

Biological immortality? Longer living cells have a high risk of becoming cancer. Have fun either being mind controlled or a ticking time bomb for cancer.

Oh and what makes us think that our natural instincts will just magically disappear because we've moved to another planet/moon? Humans like power. Human-turned-robot or not. There may not be any money involved in the future civilizations (if we get that far), but humans will love power to the end of its time. It may be transhumans wanting to kill all of the non-transhumans. Robots wanting to kill all non-robot beings. You can't escape it.

However, no other planet is safe for human life. Heck space travel alone will expose us to a lot of unhealthy amounts space radiation for long periods of time. We've evolved perfectly and specifically on this planet for a reason. Too bad we're too carelessly destructive. I admire the efforts being made to try and reverse the process, but it's like trying climb a muddy, steep slope. More mud keeps coming.

All of this technological "bliss" now and we still have poverty, corruption, arrogance, greed, and wars. We're just perfect beings who deserve to outstrip any and everything, right? I fear for the universe if we ever get that far. It's so pristine and doesn't need to be touched. However, humans and their greed will never leave anything untouched. They want to control everything. They'll learn the hard way that control is an illusion. You can only bend the rules so far and for so long.

Utopias don't exist and we've been fooling ourselves for far too long.

I just think it's delusional to not address humanity's dark side and say we're perfect. Some people only focus on the bright side and are in denial or don't believe humans can do wrong. Humans will only truly be at peace if they can address and fix their problems.

I admit, I could've worded my reply to you better. I'm glad that you realized it wasn't an attack on you though.

Yeah, we're a mixed bag alright. There's good people in the world, I know that, but it disconcerts me how eager humans seem ready to jump head first into stuff without testing it and/or expecting problems. Then they get all discombobulated when it does go wrong and have no clue on how to fix things. For example, we think we can control nuclear power, look what happened at Fukushima. Nature was the real culprit, but they're not even sure on how to control the radiation damage. And now we're playing with nanotechnology. I feel we're getting in over our heads. Who knows what will happen when a nanotechnology disaster hits. Progress is good, but only if they make plans for the unexpected which they seldom do.

I just fear that all of technological rising will make people forget to be human and address their mistakes. I see how addicted people are to Smartphones and such and it makes me fear for our future. A future full of mindless drones staring into screens and not fully enjoying life. Or humans becoming robots and thinking it's going to lead to immortality. Even technology doesn't last forever.

Ehh, I'd still rather be a small bird or something. I can't stand dealing with human emotions most of the time. At the end, we're all animals. I just wished I was of a lesser form than this overly complicated, emotional human being. My life as a bird would be simple, harsh and short.

And humans can't fly either. A total letdown.

Humans do suck... But animals suck even more. They roll about in their filth, primitive life forms that hardly deserve our attention if they weren't so damn cute. I don't like being human but niether would I want to be an animal. I long for the undeath of being downloaded. To become a mechanical body with the mind of a hominid. As humans we are weak, soft and vulnerable... But we are clever. Glad I am to be born human, but I'm not going to die human.

Yeah. I'd rather not think otherwise at all... to the point in which I'd potentially possess have a murderous agenda against humanity in general - which isn't the way of neutral good at all. :/

Sure, humanity has caused a deal of damage to the planet, but I don't want a highly pessimistic viewpoint of the future. One can still repair all damages caused, hence my belief which goes like: "Even if we can't solve conflicts right away, we'll get them resolved eventually!". If anything, it always takes time to resolve any typical dispute, no matter how minor or major it is. As the saying goes, one rotten apple spoils the bunch.

Then again, I'm not here to enforce my beliefs upon others, just had to let it all out of my chest is all.

I agree humans are not all "bad". Some of us are good and want a better world to everyone and "Extermination" is far not the best solution to bring "peace".
Plus It's our nature to fight. We fight to survive, to live, to be hear, to be understand, to force, to create,...

But the thing I don't like with us is our "sovereignty".
I mean when we face to something "unknow" to us, we are scared first, after we try to know/understand it, and final thing to "control" it. Litteraly. Because It's in our nature. It's a primary survival instinct. To overptop "potential" dangers (real or imaginaried) to be able to erase Its.
It's for that our history/evolution are based on conflicts.

Plus, we try everything to surpass "Mother Nature" and put it in a "Zoo". To control her.
I don't know why but we try to explain our "instinct" by concept like honor, justice, good or something.

I call that "Pride". The pride of humans to think they are/can be more than Gods themselves.

It's why I hate fictions where human is the usually poor race being assaulted/attacked/controlled by some aliens/monsters/anthros with prejudices against it. Why? Because, in both side, It's a freaking simplicied view!

-From "other races" side, they have only humans weaknesses and sins in their minds. They don't think about the good one who try to be the best example of his kind, the ones who are kind with them. For them, Humanity is only "Hopeless".

-In humans side, we only show the good humans but rarely (even never) the bad ones. I mean,we have too prejudices, can be blinded by hate and can act worst than thoses others races we fight, we make mistakes, we can be nasty/cruel for fun or vengeance or many reasons. But for some reason, we see only the bests of the mankind. In this side, Humanity is only "Hopefull"!

I hope you understand what I've written, It's very late and I very tired...

Not all humans suck of course...just some. LOL but seriously, as much as I love animals, I must admit I'm happy to have been born a human. But nonetheless, there are definitely many qualities animals have that I wish more humans had.

Such as: Animals don't hunt for "fun" or "sport" like some people do. Animals hunt as a means of survival. I absolutely detest people who hunt not for food, but as a game. How is taking a life "fun"? I'll never understand. It's just plain cruel.
And: Many humans do use their ability to think for doing good, but at the same time there are many that also use that ability to do bad.. So I appreciate that animals react and do things based off instinct instead. You don't have to worry about an animal scheming or betraying you, ya know?

I can name many more qualities I love about animals, but those are a couple of the ones I appreciate the most :)

Are you kidding me? Animals don't hunt just for survival. Wolves are well known for surplus hunting.

Cats often kill mice and leave their bodies to rot.

Humans aren't the only ones who hunt for sport, or fun.

Actually animals usually surplus kill in order to secure food for their offspring and others, as well as for the extra killing experience that helps them in the long-run during their life in the wild, and also sometimes eat the carcass again later on when they get hungry again.

And usually (I'm not saying always, just often times), cats do have a reason for their hunts. For example, cat mothers often bring small dead animals to her kittens, to teach them that prey is food and that you must catch them. Similarly, many domestic cats also do this and bring back dead animals to their caretakers' doorsteps, because even if the cat isn't a mother to kittens, she may view her caretakers as her family. Similarly with male cats, they sometimes bring back small animals because they think of themselves as a "provider" for the family. So it's one way that some domestic cats show their love for their owners.

I'm sure there are also wolfs/cats/etc that do indeed kill just for their own excitement...but I'm talking about in general. In general, many people who hunt do it solely for sport and have absolutely zero need to go out of their way and kill animals. Whereas animals, in general, have to do it for survival. And even if they do an occasional kill for a reason other than survival - hunting has just been a daily fact of life for their species. It's in their instincts, whether they're domestic or wild. I'm not saying all humans deserve to be spoken negatively about, and I'm not saying animals are perfect creatures. I'm just saying that in general, animals frequently have a way better reason for doing what they do than many hunters/etc nowadays do.
