Just something that has been on my mind for a while... this attitude I am encountering more and more. Its an attitude where people feel that you owe them something for no particular reason other than your work is gaining exposure? I am not just speaking for myself but others too who I have seen getting barraged by people with this kind of mindset.

For example comments along the line of 'This is okay, but when are you going to do some real art, do some landscapes and nude portraits, you will get no where in life with anime', or stop spamming with crappy pictures, only submit ones that are polished an finished because I am sick of getting my inbox spammed with all your crappy 'scribbles'. 'I really don't see why your pictures get so much attention, there are people on here much better than you'.

(removing link due to there ED having un-suitable content for linking) If you wanna go find it feel free >.<

The artists here and elsewhere do not owe you anything just because their work gets on the front page or they have many followers, this is merely a free portfolio where people can share and talk about their interests and artwork.  Some people take art more seriously than others, some are in it to because professional freelancers or concept artists/animators/ illustrators, and some do it as a hobby because they enjoy it. This doesn't mean don't give feedback or constructive criticism since this is how people grow in skill. Just have fun and enjoy DA's broad spectrum of art and its helpful community. ;) I know there are always going to be people who are going to complain regardless, that is just a fact of life and don't be discouraged, your account is your own to do with as you please, and don't let others define what you do and what you like to draw. :huggle:

(Edit- I think people are deviating a little away from the point, I am not trying to point fingers, just saying sometimes people can be harsh but if you love what your doing, then keep doing it ^^ ( that doesn't mean ignore criticism since a critique is probably the best kind of feedback an artists can get ^^)

(Edit again) -folks there really is no need to go and comment on their thread?(that was just a little part of what I was saying though it seems to have become the focus? >.< I was just using it as an example that people can be a little harsh ( but that doesn't mean they can't voice their opinions since they do have every right to, just that if you put your stuff out there its going to get criticism and its best to look for the good in what they people say and what can help even it is like I said, a little 'harsh'.^^

After writing this it has brought a few issues to my attention :ohnoes: There is a quite a bit of truth behind some of the things they are saying regarding how people take criticism. I have seen lots of people (not everyone of course) turn around and lash out at people who give them feedback that isn't entirely to their liking ( I am not talking about the forum but here on DA) , DA is a place with varying degrees of skill and artistic backgrounds and there is a lot that can be learnt here, so best to listen and thank those who take the time to give constructive and helpful criticism because its there to help you improve and develop as an artist.>.<

Another thing is my 'tutorials'... I would like to say officially that they are NOT tutorials, I am not telling people how to draw perfectly just what I find useful or things I have discovered in my own time drawing. If you look at them none are in the tutorial category, they are instead stock images because if someone does find them useful they can use them or use them elsewhere. I do this because I know my art is flawed and of course I still have a lot to learn, I also have had some wonderful feedback that has helped me progress and I just want to share what others have shared with me. =)
