I find either stupid/funny stuff or fanart gets a lot of views. Or a combo of that. For example, I spent about 15 mins doing this stupid photomanip of a Zelda screenshot for a joke, and it became really popular. Amount of effort doesn't always seem to matter, but I think if something looks really eye-catching, it's going to get more views.
it's not effort it's not time you spend on it. it's popularity of what you draw.fanart or something REALLY epic and with the title that makes you wanna go check it out.let's say someone goes on deviantart just to search for something they wanna see.you just have to find out what is popular with people(which is not hard,you can compare others with your own interests)but it's much better when you have something in your gallery that other people are looking for in general,that they know of. in translation FANART
