If I'm just drawing with pencil it could take even up to 6 hours, because of tweaking all the time here and there , if I go digital then there can be days even on some simple drawing cuz I have really big painting problems and understanding it ... lack of knowledge ofcourse , I'm self thought.
I could finish a drawing in less than 8 hours intercalated on a day, but i rather put effort on a drawing on an avarage of 3 hours per day until i'm finished with it. It makes me more observative on what i should improve on my drawing, makes me pay more attention on any mistakes or weird proportions, makes me more motivated to draw for long hours and makes me more experienced by letting it(the drawing i'm currently working on) rest within the days i'm working on it until i'm done.
It depends on what I'm drawing, and it depends on what medium.
Any Painting I do takes at least 1 hour right off the bat, I've never finished a painting and been satisfied with it in less than an hour no matter the size. (Even 2 in. by 2 in. dollhouse paintings leave me tweaking them), and can clock upwards of currently 9 hours. Though I will definitely spend more than 9 hours on paintings in the future.
Any digital drawing takes about an hour right off the bat as well. Mainly because I have a shaky hand and digital art is actually one of the most difficult mediums for me, due to this. It doesn't help that I used a trackpad because my tablet doesn't have a pen and my mouse broke The longest I've ever spent on a digital drawing so far is probably about 2 or 3 hours, though that was when I was just figuring out GIMP and such, now it's more like 1-2 hours.
Any drawing, pen or pencil, that I've done is usually done within an hour. Including every pen and paper thing I've drawn so far (Granted I don't have many good ones posted currently) I think the longest I've ever spent on a drawing was maybe an hour and a half, and it was drawing 40+ characters in a school setting a few years back. Sketches literally take me minutes, and concepts take me maybe 10 minutes. coloring is probably the longest process honestly.
Admittedly, every single thing on my DeviantArt currently took less than an hour to make, except for one of the Paintings (The textured one) because I was continually unsatisfied with it. I guess I oughtta start posting more quality stuff, nice poll!
hahahahahaha finish a picture!?!?!XD I've only done that once -_- ....the ones i post is just me saying "i hate this, it looks horrible... but im sick of it... so ill just post it and never have to work on it again"
Depends on the picture. A large picture, such as a Transformer, takes a butt load of time and effort because of the detail. For individual people/poses it usually takes me a couple of hours to finish, but I rarely work straight through. I work on my art off and on throughout the day, and I'm always editing or adding to a picture.
Depends on the size and the material i use.. Traditional media has some.. specific to it, so to say I'll chose the last point of the poll just because it usually takes enough time for me to finish an artwork at large
It depends on colouring it or not. Up to 2 hours to draw it (also depending on having or not having a landscape or perspective). But if I decide to ink the lineart, and then paint it on Photosop, it may take really long. Because I don't have a tablet, and it's a mess to use the mouse to paint.
More than five hours. Because I'm very slow and always want to make it perfect...so I always change things over again and again. Well, most of the time it doesn't even look better after those changes -.-"
IF ONLY I could finish a pic in just 5 hours... That would make me extremely happy. If I work on one every day all day from start to finish it still takes me 2-3 weeks to finish one. Hours? I'd say it usually takes a total of 40+ hours for me to make ONE picture. And that's... Just insane, I know... I am probably the slowest artist on all of DA...
To be honest I don't have much of an average time Although my shortest time is 36 minutes [digital artwork/coloured] and my longest time is 48 hours... Then again I don't like to be rushed, I mean Rome wasn't built in one day~
For me, it really depends on the pic and how much time I have to spend on it. As a full time student, I don't have a lot of time to just sit and draw as much. But that's all right, since my best pieces are the ones that take the longest.
