Don't really mind. I mean, I'm not gonna go over a fit overthem- just like pageviews. I hid my pageview cause it isn't relevant to my needs, and I'm gonna probably hide my badges if they bore me too much. Points...well, you can get a premium with them, and you can get artwork done for yopu with them, so for people who can't actually send money via internet, points are good for it.
I could care less about the lamas. I dislike getting them. It's the same with pageviews; ugh. Points, I can see the point *har har* of, but really, they are a pain in the ass to obtain! And just more money to waste aside from subscriptions, which everyone and their mother wants. Once upon a time, in 2007, I thought subscriptions were for all of the "popular" deviants. And I wonder why that thought was in my head? *Hint hint*
Naw. The lamas...they need to go. Pointless. Stupid...
I think it's kind of dumb.. A lot of it is just dA trying to placate people instead of fix the problems on this site-- not that it's a bad place, I love dA, but a lot could be better and it's not getting better...
I use Llamas to thanks people for watching me/joining me group. Just for fun, come they are free after all xD I love points, I'm alittle on the poor side and points are coming in handy for me to get my group to a super group.
I dont realy care about the llamas.... Its nice and all, the onlying about positive thing about it is when someone give you a llama you get a pageview and sometimes those people watch you :3 Points are awesome >W< I want them to get a premium membrship or to buy those smily balls :3
I like the points, they're a neat way of payment for those of us who doesnt have a paypal. But the other stuff like llama badges and such.. Meh, I haven't given them much thoughts. They're there, and they dont bother anyone, so.. yeah. They're okay, I guess. I dont really get the point, but.. yeah.
I'm in DA just for art,if anything in DA help in this matter then I like it.
Points help in buying art so I don't mind it
Other things are useless and stupid,I won't pay for cakes or glasses for my llama ,these badges are just ways to let people spend money[or points ,it's the same :/] on stupid things that people won't notice at all and won't help in anything,if you right now ask me or anyone else what badges do you have without looking at your page none will answer,I'm sure even you may sometimes forget what badges do you have
I don't really care about the badge system. Least with points, you can buy something what normally you would need to pay with real money. The Best example, the premium membership. Badges on the otherhand are almost useless, just a status symbol (or more like your virtual penis). Dunno, maybe you'd get some attetion by giving one, but seriosly, they're are waste. I'd rather draw something for people than buy them a badges (expect the llama's of course since they're free, but still)
All in all, points and llamas are not really ideas of great merit or worth to the community. I collected and gave llamas more or less because I have an addictive personality, but I knew that if I had the choice of my money being spent on such triviality and actual upkeep of this site- I would pay for the upkeep every single time.
Sure there is the bullshit comment that there is different teams in the DA department do different jobs, but that means squat when it comes to priorities. The priority should be keeping this site running smoothly, helping the customer, and getting rid of customers causing issues or breaking rules- not making little gadgets that will amuse my little mind for a few days. Thus more priority, more people, more of our cash should be given to the people who make this site work, and not the people who make the site's toys.
That is not to that the DA design/community department is doing a bad job, but rather that in all practical sense their job is luxury not a commodity when it comes to a website. The priority should be on the customer, what the customer needs. Sure the llamas, points and muro may attract new customers, but what worth is that if the site slows down to the point of annoyance or that thieves are not taken care of quickly? It is like community building a new football stadium when what they really need is another police station.
I, like so many, was enticed when the llamas started, but now there's really no point to getting them for myself. They fall into that "Oh, thats kind of neat. /ignores immediately afterwards" category.
I think the points are rather ineffective for the time being. I get that, yes, you can spend them and give them away; so there's the coolness of not necesarrily needing paypal or something similar to get real-life things. But their value per person on DA is so incredibly low, this sort of 'proxy cash' doesn't profit anyone except DA itself... :/
