I selected - "Yes if I lose interest in them or their artwork".

But I have also unwatched due to being mistreated/harassed by a user.

Sometimes I watch very famous deviants (or not so famous) because I love their style and their artwork. However, as time goes on I grow tired of them and their art because they do the same thing over and over again, always the same themes, the same poses, the same styles, the same colours, the same everything. It is tedious, uninspiring and frustrating to see such great artists do the same thing all the time :/ and worst of all, not seeing them improve their skills at all. That's the main reason why I unwatch people.

Also, when the deviant in question turns out to be an ass or a jerk, saying, acting or doing things that I find to be worth facepalming to, I also unwatch them.

yep. usually it has to do with their personality, though.
if it turns out that someone I've watched (or even added their stuff to my faves) is actually kind of a prick or something, I remove them and their stuff from my watches/faves.
I can think of 2 specific instances of that, over the years..
otherwise, I just deselect what stuff I'm notified about (journals, critiques, news articles, etc.) if they get to be too much.

If their journal entries or their art becomes irritating in some way, or if they haven't posted anything in a long time, or if their art-style has changed to something that isn't necessarily matching my tastes, then yes, I might.

It's rare, but I do. If they deactivate or if I'm truly not interested in their ULs, then I do that.

If I'm no longer interested in an artist's work or if they SPAM a lot, I usually just go under the friends settings and turn off their deviation notification but I keep them on my watch list in the event I want to look them up later.

I hate deactivation... The only accounts that should be permanently deleted should be banned and reported accounts... Such as Art-theft accounts... But i FUCKIN' hate it! When someone who's art is GOOD, but he deactivates and NO ONE can EVER admire his art again as they are lost forever... Damn dA...

I have been thinking about cleaning my watch-list for some time now (some have deactivated/moved and some I don't feel like watching anymore) but I keep pushing it forward thinking "I'll do it sometime... later." I'm just that lazy|D

I watch people quickly and without looking through much of their art, so then, a few months down the line, I realize I'm not really so keen on what they create, and the "unwatch" hammer comes down!

I actually don't unwatch inactive people, because it doesn't matter--they're not going to show up in your watch list anymore.

Im quite picky about who I watch in the first place, so I don't often un-watch, but when people leave then I do. Or when I lost interest because they only stick to one style.

It happenned once or twice I do it by mistake clicking the little arrow on the "X"s left side without realising it, but usually after a while I spot that they continue to Upload stuff I didn't saw and re-put them under watch.

I will un watch artists that update their journals ten times more than their art. I don't mind journal updates, but I hate it when they literally update the journal ten times more.

I don't unwatch, but I will change the settings so that I don't see them spam the same 10 pieces every 2 days. That way I can always check my list and visit them for NEW work :)

If I loose interest in their art, I stop watching. There have been some occasions where I've even stopped if I realize that "Wow, this is the first piece of work/journal entry that I've seen from them in a year" which usually signals to me that either they have lost interest in their own gallery, or are far too busy with life to work on anything new anymore.
There's also if I change accounts. I have two accounts [one for fanart, one for original] but I only really use one account anymore, so I never check the other. So whatever artists I was watching on the previous account, I unwatched there and watch on the new one. If that makes sense?

They don't get noticed when you unwatch or unfav stuff. Unless that deviant has just a few watchers and then it'd be easier to notice someone's absence. But there is no notice of when someone unwatches or unfavs you

What I only did that once for isn't one of the options.

I did it once because that person refused to listen to me when I told him to stop spamming my chatroom with inappropriate pictures.

I unwatch people if they haven't been on for like a year for which there last long in date was. Or if they start to sound very mean to everyone around them on there journals; artworks; comments.
