It usually depends. Most movies have at least some traces of sex and violence. And if you want to watch a movie and/or read a book, you can check the ratings to see what you're getting into. It's not like the media doesn't warn you ahead of time. We as viewers/consumers of media have a right to know what we're investing into, and as long as we live by common sense it shouldn't be a problem.
Definetely sex. You can't watch ANYTHING without seeing people going at it. I know it's a part of life, but it's not always nessecary to make everything a soft-core porn movie, you know? Plus, it gives people unrealistic expectations and makes it seem like a terribly casual thing; it's a big deal to a lot of people, and it should be treated with respect and discretion, not paraded about.
LoL, I think it's funny that in our culture sex is considered more inappropriate than violence; Because sex is a natural part of life and people getting their heads blown up is not. *shrug* But that's just me.
If by "other" you mean: "Crazy *** ripping open bodies and splattering blood vessels and brains all over the floor, windows, ceiling and other people with teeth, chainsaw or some sort of 'slaughterous' weapon..." .........Then yes, I vote for "other" 'o3o
Everyone knows about human reproduction so I dont think its a problem, but if you dont like that, thats fine. I think sensitive subjects like racism, etc. should not be made fun of. I find that inappropriate.
Voted other. Necrophilia (with and without dismemberment), sex with dead animal parts, bestiality, midget porn, erotic asphyxia, Tyrannous Leeches, among other things bother me more then just sex or violence.
Having three little sisters and a little brother, I voted sex because I don't want them to be confused or exposed too early to inappropriate things or media that glorifies sex all the time, but I feel that violence is trickier because it's a lot easier to get de-synthesized to it, and obviously I don't want them to grow up thinking it's okay to see others get hurt.
I normally don't comment on these things, just had to throw my two cents in.
It all depends on the context for me. In romantic comedies, a little sex scene is okay, I can deal with it. In horror movies or thrillers, well, what's the bad guy there for if not to be violent? What I have a problem with is when there is over-the-top gorey brutal torture or murder in a movie. I don't see the point and I think anyone who enjoys watching it is secretly (or openly) sadistic. As for sex, I think it's only an issue when it pops up in a movie that you're watching with your parents. That is really awkward. So, as long as things like sex and violence are used in moderation in the movie and contribute to the plot, they are appropriate.
Goodness, I wrote a lot. I didn't know I was so strongly opinionated. o.O
i think sex is a little more inappropriate, it really spoils a good action movie for me, im like WTF? It depends on what level of violence, some times its light and funny/ comedic, gun fights are boring, all they do is press a trigger (unless its the matrix) i love sword fights in old japanese/ chinese films.
In movies, I think nothing is really inapropriate as long as it has a purpose, whereas, on my opinion, violence can be really inapropriate in video games, especially when we all know that the PEGIS are rarely respected ! Considering that there is an interaction with the world, the characters, the stories etc, I'm quite choked by the great violence in some video games...
Sex,is not heavier than violence. I play Mortal Kombat 3 and MK9,I have only 13 years, but,i don´t think ths would stimulate me,because the violence in this games is simply ridiculous,a movie or game are all art,but depends on the value, what he shows, like shooter games online, they have not history,so they can´t show something more human,I have played Red Dead Redemption, but it shows something realistic on the history. The protagonist has a reason to kill people,to have his family back, not because he like,it only depends of how someone interpret.
I went with other because it really depends on the setting and mood behind it all. Rape, being both combined, is something that I don't ever like seeing...especially since it has happened to a couple girls I personally know really well.
Sexual conduct and violence have ratings for reasons. If you don't like the contents then don't watch the movies. It's the same things about the things I am about to name when it comes to things I don't like to see in movies. Thus I don't watch the movies. Rasism, Homosexuality bashing, personal belief bashing,, and things like that...
I HATE it when they have sex and sexual stuff! It takes so much more away from the movie when the women are in the end only treated as an object for the guy to have. AND CUT OUT THE TIGHT STINKING OUTFITS! IF LADY-GAGA WON'T EVEN WEAR IT ON STAGE THEN IT DOESN'T BELONG IN A GUN FIGHT!!!
It's just that any mature content warning can be bypassed easily now, my eight-year old sister was talking about penises without realizing it's wrong -_-||
Ruining their innocence so early ._. I don't see anything wrong with sex or violence, it actually makes everything more interesting... EXCEPT FOR When your favorite celebrity of all time does some passion scene with... an ugly girl... >.<
i don't like how they're conditioning children. you're supposed to like happy colors and pretty people, they've eliminated most racially biased programming. however there are still some things they try to imprint in our minds and i don't like that.
