if it was my dog i would be like WHAT DO I DO? but if it was my cat who is 14 years old i would be like, your had a good life, :'I if it was my anti-social demon cat id just day "bye! say hi to nicolas cage's career for me "
It would break my heart to let my pet die, but that other person is a human being, they could be someone's parent, someone's child, someone's spouse. Imagine one of your parents died because some douchebag would rather save his pet chicken.
my pet, Bryn, cause I have him since he was 2 months, he's like a son for me.... the only idea that something could happen to him breaks my heart, I know the lives of human beings are important, but when for u a pet is like a person, how could u chose in a different way? Apart from it, I hope that I will never have to chose to save a life instead of another.
It really depends on who the person is and who the pet is, and also on the situation. If it's between my really smart eighty pound dog and a person with cruel eyes, then I'm choosing Miles (good dog, best friend). But if it's between my goldfish and a child, fuck Squishy, I'm saving junior. There's no solid answer for that question from me.
Dude... The stranger is a human and could be someone really special, and if he or she wasn't special, you would still save the person and do something right. The pet would be a large loss, but the human being would be the one who made a bigger difference. Please don't call me heartless, I love animals and I would have a mental breakdown If I had to choose in a real life situation. When my cat died from cancer I couldn't eat or sleep for two days...
on the question to save your pet or a stranger child, more people would save the child, on this question its 50% 50%. well I think so too, children shouldn't die. they hadn't much time already, and because of that they're also not to judge for their mistakes and they can still develope to a good person. A total stranger that is already an adult is probably as disappointing as most other people I began to know in my live. I could never feel more for a strange person than for my cat.
How is this a difficult question? I mean, I love my dog as much as anyone else loves his/her pet, but his life isn't quite as important as a human's. Animals don't have families, intelligence, or deep understanding and emotions like humans do. Letting a soul die in place of a creature that would probably never even realize it was in danger in the first place is terrible.
I am absolutely appalled at your answer. Animals don't have families, intelligence or deep understanding and emotions like humans do? Have you ever had the chance to bond with an animal friend, to get to be their companion, to get to play with them when they're bored? Have you ever experienced a feeling as if humanity isn't on your side, and you're fighting alone? And when you experience that feeling, have you ever tried sitting down beside your dog, your cat, whatever pet and just watching the skies go by?
Animals will remain the same. Humans won't. They have the mental ability to do something far sinister than an animal would do. If you give a small bit of compassion to a dog, they will give you their heart in return.
They have a family. An animal can't possibly be born out of a rock. They had mothers. They had fathers. They had brothers and sisters. This stranger could be an orphan, like the dog, having their family taken away to live elsewhere.
Animals have just as much understanding of what emotions, family and intelligence mean to them. They value this more than humans ever will. It is cruel of you to say that animal's life aren't quite as important as humans.
What if this stranger didn't appreciate the values that you have suggested animals don't value? What if they were just the odd street kid who didn't bother at life at all? Letting an ANIMEL die in place of a stranger that probably REALISES it is in DANGER, is terrible.
I do love my dog very much, but in my opinion, a human life is just a little more important, no matter what kind of person he or she is. So don't try to say that I don't love animals. I don't know what I'd do without my dog because he comforts me a lot when I'm down, but I'd rather save a person, who might have family, might contribute something to the world. Everyone looks at the negative side and says something like, "Well, what if the person's a criminal?" So what? As you just said, people don't remain the same. A criminal could change.
I take biology. I'm aware how animals are formed, thanks. Animals don't really realize that they have a 'family.' Often times, they never meet their parents or fellow puppies from a litter, so they have no attachment. I have no idea what breed my dog, a shelter animal, is, let alone where it was born and by which dogs. And if you were an orphan, would you rather someone save a dog from a fire than you? How would you feel, having an animal that has a much shorter life expectancy and won't remember that someone saved its life, be rescued over you?
I don't agree with you that their intelligence and emotional levels are as deep as a humans. They have basic emotions, like happiness, shame, affection, etc. and they can be intelligent... for animals. Can a dog or cat write a three hundred page novel, learn all the names of the cranial nerves, or draw a portrait of another animal perfectly? No. And animals don't even comprehend what the words 'emotions' and 'intelligence' mean. It's not cruel at all to say it. I'm not saying their lives aren't important—because they are—, I'm just saying a humans life is just slightly above that of an animal.
What if this stranger was on the verge of a breakthrough for curing cancer? Or was a single parent that was the only family his/her child had? And what if that street kid lived on the street because he had no other choice? You just don't know. And natural instincts for any creature, albeit a human or animal, would tell them they're in danger. None of your points have made any sense to me, and I think you're the one whose values are a little off.
why when you ask betwen save a cild or a pet mostly of the people chose to save the child, but when is with a stranger they save the pet!!!!! fuch that shit, i save my pet yes or yes! my puppys are my life
well i would just say that even if all living beens are important i would choose the stranger...... i dont care if it is a bad person or if there is posibility he would backstap me in future, human capacities are way to higher than any pet dont matter how pretty or how it have make me feel u can call it selfinesh and say "why a dog life is not as valuable as a human?" well the pet cant look in a sunset and feel things as we do....
wow I can't believe how nearly even this poll is. A human beings life is way more important than any pet! I don't care if they are a stranger or not. I have 4 cats and I love them to death but I would choose without hesitation to save another persons life.
its really a matter of personal morals and understanding of what a human means, its a pretty reasonable result i feel. not hating, just kinda bored and figured id comment on something XD have a good day.
For myself, I think it would be a case-by-case thing.... Personally, I don't see one life as being worth more than another. ^^ I don't see there being a case in which a complete stranger who was on his/her deathbed and I would cross paths while I was with one of my cats, or my dog also on their deathbed. With the cat that I have now.... I've had him longer than I've had full memories, and it would be like asking if I would choose my sister/brother over a complete stranger. I'd like to think that (should something like this every happen) that I'd have the option of saving both.
Stranger... Human lives are worth much more. man.... if the stranger was some hot guy/girl I bet everyone would choose the stranger over the pet... it just goes to show how SELFISH and DEMENTED people are these days
I'm surprised that nobody out of the comments I read didn't ask for more context. Why would anybody want your pet under the grounds that if you keep it they'll kill the stranger? It doesn't really make sense.
Since I have a personal dislike for pets of any kind and you're generally not doing them a favor by keeping them domesticated, I'd pick the stranger. Who knows who this stranger is, and what they'll do. Might as well give them a chance. The pet, well, I think I can rest assured that it isn't a brain surgeon.
I wasn't gonna comment cuz I left a big one on the other poll, buuuut I read the comments. Personally, if I was the stranger I would be happy if the animal's life was saved over mine. I don't want to live if it means that any animal has to die in my place. Seriously, I would rather be boiled to death than let a goldfish be boiled alive. You can tell me I'm fucked up all you want, but its not going to change my mind.
Welllll if you were asking me? I would say save the person no matter who they are, no mater the age, ethnicity, cultural background, human life is sacred. For me it is a question of selfishness or selflessness. Give up something I love deeply for someone who is a person just like I am. Or decide my pet has more value than a human life.
Obviously there are all different opinions and people will have different views. No one is wrong or right but I sure hope if I ever came into that situation, hopefully it would be with someone who picked 'save the stranger'
People as a whole, including you. Well that's the thing though, "something" an animal isn't a thing is the thing, it's a living thing too, who has the right to say a dog is worth less then a human, or that an animal should die so some person can live. A dog isn't the smartest animal, or a cat, or any pets, but that doesn't make them worth any less. It's not about the pet owner alone, we're talking about the pet too.
Yeah, quite different opinions indeed. Heh, I wouldn't blame a person at all if they picked their pet over me in the circumstance.
