interesting book, but I wouldn't call it amazing. there is lots of better books out there. Although my opinion would hae been more positive if gale and peeta BOTH DIED. really. love triangle is stupid.

I read hunger games right when it came out and never continued the series. Dont get wrong, I really enjoyed it. I even read the book right after reading Battle Royale. I just felt that the series lost its main concept since it started transitioning into a more Cheesy Love thing.

I don't see why people love it so much. I attempted to read it, but after the third chapter, I threw it to the ground and tried something else.

It's a good series, but the romance is unnecessary and the epilogue is horrible. The concept itself is great... I've read better books, however.

I really liked the first book! I loved the idea of the story... but then I found out about Battle Royale. The manga came out before The Hunger Games, which is very, very similar to Battle Royale... Battle Royale is just way, waaaaay more graphic. The Hunger Games seems a little more political to me. AKA Hunger Games seems like a rip off of Royale. =3= Yeaaah... check out Battle Royale.

I just like the first book. Books 2 and 3 make Katniss seem too much like Bella from Twilight with the whole love triangle going on. I was gonna go for "I have a feeling it's going to be the new Twilight" because of this.

I intend to read the books before I see the movie so I can have a better view in my head on what the author wants me to see in their world versus what movie producers want me to see. BTW, I decided not to watch, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", because I was very satisfied with Steig Larsson's narrative. GO LISBETH SALANDER!!!

Is this the same thing as Game of Thrones people keep talking about? Sadly I haven't seen/read any of these because we don't have bookstores. But if it's a series I'll try to watch it.

I liked the first book immensely, but in my opinion, as it went on it just kinda...bleh. The ending was somewhat unsatisfying, and some of the deaths were just plain old random.

I'm on the second one right now. I enjoyed the first, but I have to say, so far I am not enjoying Catching Fire.

I can get past the gore and violence because, to me, there is a message and a deeper meaning somewhere in there. no one could get away with putting a book that violent on the teen shelf without one and get away with it.

personally I think it would have been A LOT better if there was no Peeta to begin with, and Gale was the one who went to the games with her. but maybe that's because I just don't like Peeta.

As a dude who read this looking around my school at the girls who are freaking out in expectation for the next movie, I know there are going to be some twilight-like fans out there. Its all like, "who cares about all the death and gore? who cares that they just blew up a bunch of children and then the nurses right after? who cares that the main character becomes clinically depressed? There's boys!!!" ...or something.. Amazing books, but fangirls shall be fangirls..

CAUTION SPOILER ALERT
I liked the first one, although i was kinda disappointed cus i thought Katniss would win from her awesome archery skills and not through a sappy romance that played their sponsers for fools. But i was like, hey, whatever, they get to live and go home.

The games in the second was very interesting but it weird how it panned out. I didn't really like the third all that much. Seemed like too much mindless killing off of characters on Collins's part. I mean, i understand that it's a rebellion and everything, and there's going to be casualties, but come on. Like Prim was totally uncalled for. What the hell was she even doing there?? She's not even qualified to be a medic! They just throw thirteen-year-olds (assuming about a year has passed since book 1) on the battlefield to take care of the wounded? Really? Just really?

I really don't like the whole "who should i be with?" thing either. Come on Katniss, there's a rebellion going on and people are dying, i think there's more important things to think about here. And also I don't like Peeta, i'm a fan of badass guys like Gale who are excellent hunters, not bakers who can't protect themselves.

i like it and honestly think its better then twilight when it hits romantic bits, its good but seeems like its dry and lacking in some areas, and others not really seting up the "mood" or if something should be taken drasticly or not, its good better then twilight but lacking XD

I loved it until the third book.
Then I don't know.
It seemed like Suzanne Collins was more interested in publishing a book and making money from it than really taking the time to wrap up the series.
For me, I didn't hate the tragedy or that so and so died. It just seemed to me like Katniss' personality was unrealistic and that Collins didn't particularly care to acknowledge the tragedy.

The first book is awesomely amazing. I love the characters, I love how the author set it all up, I love their entire new world. The Games had me going and I literally couldn't put the book down.
The second one was...decent. I didn't like it nearly as much as the first one, and it was a bit of a disappointment to me. Let's just say I'm not the biggest Peeta fan...

The last book made me die a little inside. I mean, really. I actually disliked how it was going to much I skipped around in the book. Nit only was it just extremely overly depressing, but just the ending...was not satisfying personally. I mean, it's not because of the tragedy. I enjoy sadness in a book, but it just seemed like overkill, no pun intended.
So the ending I guess just bluh. Gale didn't get enough of a role, IMHO. Peeta just seems overrated.

Anyways, the movie I'm actually very hesitant to go see. The first book was so great I actually reread it sometimes, so I would hate, hate, hate to see them ruin or twist it like they did with Percy Jackson. I mean, seriously now, they were like two different stories, but I digress.

Basically, the first one is amazing. I find her style refreshing, so go check it out.
If you're being torn to pieces by the ending and wanna see how it plays out, seeing the next won't kill you. (I specifically like the games in this one. It's very clever.)
Unless you basically want the series ruined for you, I wouldn't look t the last.

All in all it's up to personal preference. I have friends who hate the last book with a passion, like myself, and I have friends who love the last book. So give it a shot, I suppose, but don't get your hopes up. This isn't one of those series that gets better as it goes along, like, say, Leven Thumps.
Whatever you decide to do, get ready for one heck of a story.

Dear lord I might've gone a little overboard there.

I really liked the first one. I thought is was different and kind of realistic. I also liked how smart and strong a character she was. Then, the second book was cool too. I thought the idea of the punishment was really harsh and unfair specially to the older ones, but that was the whole point so it also made it really realistic in that sense. The third book really slapped me. I didn't like the ending. It was shocking, but mostly depressing. It was as if she was living because she had to.

I had really really high hopes for this series!! The idea behind it was just so great! But then the author went and turned it into this stupid sappy romance book... And ended the series with an epilogue about happiness and babies... Let's just say that by the end of the third book I was much less impressed than I had been at first. I never liked Peeta to begin with, and logically I couldn't work out the whole Katniss/Peeta thing... Gale should have had more of a prominent role! His character was pretty undervalued in my opinion... And now the whole thing's just gotten way way overblown. *sighs* In the end, it just really disappointed me, even though I did like them at the beginning :(
