I have a few viruses on my computer right now. Most of them were caused by my sister downloading random crap onto the computer and by opening hidden files. One time, when she was on the computer, she downloaded a virus deleter, but it only made many more viruses, and the computer deleted a bunch of stuff (the virus deleter kept saying most of the documents and programs were bad for my computer when they weren't), and the deleted stuff included my art and my internet!!!
I have a ton right now ;_; I want to take it to get it fixed but the shop is a long bus drive. I'm waiting for when my sister gets hers fixed, she said she'll bring mine too, but she's taking so long...
Probably everyone who is regularly on the internet has had a virus before, they may just not know it. I've had more than I can count and I regularly find myself sweeping out trojans because routine anti-virus scans can't handle them lmao
The antivirus ran out on my netbook once and I didn't realise, and I got this virus that was masquerading as the Windows Security Centre, and then it deleted everything on my hard drive. Luckily the computer repair place managed to salvage it all, but I had to pay out £80 to reinstall the operating system. >_>
I was just lucky enough that my computer offered to let me save everything before it deleted everything and rebooted itself as a brand new computer. But I broke down into tears right after words because I thought it had deleted all of my drawings. Thank God I was wrong.
Oh boy yes! Usually small ones, but one nasty in particular I had to go into multiple folders to kill it's source before it could be conquered. Luckily it was "hiding" in a section I was quite familiar with. XD
Not on my newer computers because I make sure they are protected but back when I was younger and I didn't really understand viruses and it was the family computer, things like anti-virus software were still quite new and quite expensive so my Dad got free trial ones that never worked fully. But when I realised my computer it was filled with trojans (when he eventually got a decent software) I was too scared to even go on the internet!
They still scare me, when my Kaspersky pops up to say it's blocked an incoming one, I sit frozen because all I was doing was searching on Google images or something. Oh jeez I'm such a wimp haha!
My old computer (rest its poor soul) was just sitting there and I only had my music system up when a little black box appeared in the middle with nothing. My dad didn't know what it was until my anti virus blipped off into oblivion about ten seconds later.
